Sango-kaku, also known as the coral bark Japanese maple, is a deciduous, small to medium-sized tree. Noted for its showy coral bark and fall color, that is particularly showy in the fall and winter after the leaves drop, the award-winning Acer palmatum Sango-kaku is a must for those who appreciate winter bark interest. Coral bark Japanese maple is a slow- to moderate-growing woody tree. Plant it in full sun to partial shade and in moist, well-drained soil.
